Bodegas Campillo a château winery in the midst of a 50 hectare vineyard primarily planted with theTempranillo variety, embodying the essence of the land.
It owes its name to Viña Campillo one of the first properties of the first generation of the Familia Martínez Zabala when it all began.
In 1988, Julio Faustino Martínez, accompanied by his children, embarked on a journey to fulfill his big dream: to construct a genuine winery, opening its doors to the world and sharing his profound passion for the universe of wine.
In 1990, Bodegas Campillo was inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in wine tourism history in Rioja. It was the first winery in Rioja to be built with a distinctive architectural design, a true tribute to the landand the art of winemaking.
Our Winemaker
Ruth Rodríguez Ascacíbar is the winemaker at Bodegas Campillo She holds a degree in Agricultural Technical Engineering and Oenology from the University of La Rioja.
Upon completing her education, she chose to gain international experience by producing wine in various countries, including Chile, Italy, and New Zealand.
Returning to Spain, she continued to shape her career in some of the most iconic wineries across various prestigious Denominaciónes de Origen including D.O. Toro, D.O. Rueda,D.O. Ribera de Duero, and D.O.Ca. Rioja.
In 2020, Ruth found her way to Bodegas Campillo becoming a vital member of the technical team at Familia Martínez Zabala.
